Who May Benefit from Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy BHRT?

PeriMenoPause Symptoms

- Symptom begin up to 10 years before menopause,
- Often starting in the early 40s,
- Transitional stage before menopause
- Estrogen & Progesterone levels begin to fluctuate.

MenoPause Symptoms

-  12 consecutive months without a menstrual period,
-  (due to sustained decline in ovarian estrogen production)
-  It commonly occurs between ages 45–55.

Hormone levels naturally decline with age, particularly during perimenopause and menopause. Lower hormone levels may lead to symptoms. Hormone replacement therapy may be prescribed to help manage these symptoms and improve quality of life.

  • Hot flashes and night sweats

  • Sleep problems or insomnia

  • Mood changes or irritability

  • Fatigue or low energy

  • Brain fog or memory problems

  • Weight gain or metabolic changes

  • Reduced libido

  • Vaginal dryness or discomfort

  • Bone loss

BHRT - Hormone therapy aims to restore more balanced hormone levels, which may help reduce these symptoms and improve quality of life for some patients.

  • Naturally Derived Products

  • Comprehensive hormone testing

  • Individualized dosing

  • Safe, evidence-based prescribing

  • Ongoing lab monitoring

  • Root-cause evaluation (thyroid, cortisol, insulin, inflammation)

Hormone Therapy for Low Testosterone in Women

Testosterone is often thought of as a “male hormone,” but it plays an important role in women’s health as well. Women naturally produce small amounts of testosterone in the ovaries and adrenal glands, and this hormone helps support sexual desire, energy levels, muscle strength, mood stability, and cognitive function.

As women age—especially during perimenopause and menopause—testosterone levels may gradually decline. For some women, this change can contribute to symptoms such as:

  • Low libido or reduced sexual desire

  • Fatigue or decreased energy

  • Reduced motivation or drive

  • Difficulty building or maintaining muscle

  • Brain fog or decreased mental clarity

When symptoms are present, a comprehensive hormone evaluation can help determine whether testosterone imbalance may be contributing to these changes.

Hormone Therapy for Hypoestrogenism

Low estrogen levels can occur in situations beyond menopause. Certain medical conditions, surgical removal of the ovaries, or disorders affecting hormone production can lead to hypoestrogenism.

Symptoms may include:

  • Vaginal dryness

  • Hot flashes

  • Bone loss

  • Sleep disturbances

  • Mood changes

Hormone therapy may be used to help restore hormone balance when clinically appropriate and after evaluating potential risks and benefits.

Progesterone Therapy for Hormonal Balance

Progesterone is often used alongside estrogen therapy for patients with a uterus. This helps protect the lining of the uterus from excessive growth that can occur with estrogen therapy alone.

Progesterone may also be prescribed for certain hormone-related conditions such as secondary amenorrhea (absence of menstrual cycles due to hormonal imbalance).

Personalized Bioidentical Hormone Therapy

Hormone therapy should never follow a “one-size-fits-all” approach. At Lunaris Health, treatment plans are individualized based on:

  • Symptoms

  • Medical history

  • Laboratory testing

  • Risk assessment

  • Treatment goals

Hormones may be prescribed in several forms including oral medications, topical preparations, injections, patches, or vaginal therapies, depending on the patient’s needs.
