For over 20 years, Mel Randle has delivered critical care to patients in some of Chicago’s premier academic and trauma centers—including Loyola University Medical Center and Northwestern Memorial Hospital—caring for the sickest, most complex individuals with multidisciplinary acuity.

Mel Randle is a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of front-line experience caring for patients in the most complex, high-stakes clinical environments. Her training and clinical practice have been shaped by years spent in nationally ranked academic hospitals and intensive care units, where she cared for patients recovering from major surgeries, strokes, heart failure, transplants, trauma, and critical illness.

 

Her experience has instilled a unique, systems-based approach to care. Mel doesn’t just assess one problem—she sees the entire picture. She’s trained to understand how each body system affects the others, how subtle changes can signal deeper issues, and how to act quickly to prevent complications. This level of insight is especially crucial during the vulnerable period after hospitalization, when patients are often juggling new medications, symptoms, and follow-up instructions from multiple providers.
